SOME MATHERS DO 'AVE 'EM

EMINEM, real name MARSHALL MATHERS, appeared in MACOMB COUNTY COURT, MICHIGAN yesterday (October 10) on charges of Assault and Possession Of A Concealed Weapon, only to have the pre-trial hearing into the incident adjourned until December 8.

The rapper's bail bond of $100,000 was extended during the hearing, allowing him to take part on the upcoming 'Anger Management Tour' with Limp Bizkit and Papa Roach.

It also emerged that Eminem's defence team have been talking to prosecutors about a plea agreement in a bid to avoid a long trial and possible prison term.

According to the Detroit Free Press, Assistant Macomb County Prosecutor David Portuesi told Judge Viviano that both sides had discussed the agreement, adding, "but we are not in a position to finalise it at this point".

However, even if Eminem does enter a 'guilty' plea on December 8, Chief Prosecutor Carl Marlinga has insisted he will seek the stiffest sentence available. "It's going to be our position that, if he does plead guilty to one or more of the charges, we will seek some jail time," he said.

Marlinga has said a 'guilty' plea could mean anything from probation to up to five years in prison.

The charges stem from a June 4 incident when Eminem is alleged to have pistol-whipped a man, John Guerra, whom he caught kissing his estranged wife Kim in the car park of a nightclub in Warren, Michigan.

The under-fire rapper faces a different court in Oakland County, Michigan, on December 18, where he is accused on separate weapons charges.

He is alleged to have pulled an unloaded gun during an argument with an associate of rival rappers Insane Clown Posse in Oakland a matter of hours before the pistol-whipping.
