THE FUGEES are set to reform and return to the studio to record the follow-up to 1996's definitional album 'THE SCORE', nme.com can exclusively reveal.
Speaking this afternoon (October 2) following the unveiling of nominations for this year's MTV Europe Music Awards, the show's host, Fugee Wyclef Jean, told nme.com, "2001, that's the next Fugees album. We definitely been talking about it. It might be called 'The Contract' - 'The Score Part II - The Contract'."
Denying that the trio of Jean, Pras and Lauryn Hill had ever come close to officially splitting up, he went on, "We never said that we had split up - you never heard that from no Fugee - you just heard a lot of people talking. No Fugee never said they was never going to do another Fugees album. We talked. 2001, baby - trust me."
When asked if there were any tracks written already, Wyclef said: "I got over a 1000 joints written; which ones go on the album, I don't know."
Wyclef also revealed that he and his fellow Fugees plan to tour again as a three-piece, saying they wanted to "just go out and rock it".
Looking to the MTV Europe Awards show itself - to be held in Stockholm on November 16 - Jean tipped Robbie Williams, nominated in four categories, to walk away with the headlines. However, he added, "But who do I want? Eminem. You know I'm a big fan of Eminem."
As to whether a collaboration between Eminem and himself was likely, the Fugee said, "What, psycho versus culture? Anything can happen, man
