STEREOPHONICS' KELLY JONES will tour for the first time on his own in NOVEMBER, playing a number of intimate, acoustic shows in small, seated venues around the UK and in IRELAND.
Jones will preview songs from the forthcoming Stereophonics album, entitled 'JEEP (Just Enough Education to Perform)', as well as selected tracks from previous records 'Word Gets Around' and 'Performance And Cocktails'.
The dates will be the first opportunities for people to hear the new Stereophonics tracks, which are said to be a quieter departure from their full-on rock sound of old.
A spokesperson for Stereophonics denied that the shows signalled the start of a new solo career for Kelly Jones, which had been rumoured just last week in NME. He said: "Kelly would like the public to understand that these are not Stereophonics shows - there will be no rocking in the aisles or moshing in the pits! Kelly intends these extremely special shows to be relaxed and convivial in atmosphere."

In the UK at
least, Stereophonics have not played venues of this size since 1997. The
band's only UK shows this year took place in August - they headlined the
Glasgow Green, Leeds and Reading Festivals.
The band have just finished recording 'JEEP (Just Enough Education to Perform)' in Bath. Kelly, bassist Richard Jones and drummer Stuart Cable are currently mixing the album in New York with Andy Wallace. It will be released in the spring of 2001.
