KELLY JONES has revealed that STEREOPHONICS are hoping to recruit a second guitarist when they return to the live arena as a full band in the new year.
Speaking to Radio 1, the Stereophonics frontman said the second guitarist who accompanies him on his forthcoming solo dates in November will probably become the band's second guitarist when they tour their third studio album 'JEEP (Just Enough Education to Perform)'.
He said: "The band is probably going to become a five-piece by the time we start touring again, so whoever that person's gonna be is probably gonna be the guy that I'll take on the acoustic tour with me. That way I can kill two birds with one stone. He can learn the parts with me before the band is actually involved in the process as well."
Jones also spoke of the inspiration behind touring alone. He said: "I've always loved watching singers and a guitar in a quiet atmosphere. I got the idea when I was watching Howard Marks. I love the idea of people just standing on a stage and entertaining, without people ramming hotdogs down their mouth... Just sitting down and listening to people's words, listening to the songs."
